The Collections of Cushing Library reflect the comprehensive nature of the educational and research enterprise at A&M as well as the wide diversity of interests found among current and former students, faculty, staff, and friends.  Many of the collections were developed during the early years of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, and saw their individual volumes gathered into a more defined form as the Library’s Special Collections Developed.  Others were introduced to the university by scholars on the faculty, who encouraged the acquisition of important collections known through their individual specialties.  Many were developed as Cushing Library itself has grown in profile and has seen its holdings expand, through the support of both the administration and the many friends of the Library.  Among the particularly strong collections at Cushing are:
