When you are ready to research, please notify Reading Room staff that you are planning to visit and what materials you wish pulled in advance of your arrival. Cushing maintains three storage facilities, two of them off-site, and giving us at least three days’ notice of your visit allows us to ensure that all material is on-site.

Rare books and fragile materials must be handled carefully. Book cradles, gloves, and magnifying glasses are available for your use in the Reading Room.

Duplication requests are assessed on an individual basis to protect material. However, you are welcome to bring a digital camera with you to photograph material. For information about fees and request processing, see our Duplication Services page.

When you are finished using material, please bring it back to the reference desk. If you plan to return, let Reading Room staff know and material can be placed in a holding area for your convenience.
