The Oral History Collections

Many hours of recollections of former students and faculty members have been recorded and transcribed. Approximately twenty hours of memoirs of refugees from Mexico who came to Texas during the Revolutionary War period of 1910-1920 have also been recorded and transcribed. Some of these interviews are in English, others are all in Spanish, and still others are bilingual.

In the project entitled "History of Modern Oceanography," over fifty oceanographers from all over the United States have been interviewed.

Several additional interviews have been recorded with scientists who have worked in the production of synthetic fuels or are familiar with German efforts to produce such fuels during World War II. Approximately 150 agricultural scientists have been interviewed in a project related to the history of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. Over forty A&M alumni who have attained the rank of general have been interviewed in a project entitled "Aggies to Generals." Several urban planners have been interviewed in an attempt to document the process of planning the development of urban areas.
