Kelsey Reading Room and Materials Use Policy

Welcome to the Cushing Memorial Library's Mavis P. and Mary Kelsey Reading Room. The materials in our collections are here because of their rarity, their value as part of a collection, or restrictions placed on them as a condition of their sale or gift to the University. The collections are housed here primarily for research purposes. Our use policies are not intended to hinder your research but to provide access to the collections in a manner that will ensure their continued preservation.

  • Materials at Cushing are made available for use in the Mavis P. and Mary Kelsey reading room.
  • All reading room visitors are required to show some form of photo identification.
  • All patrons are required to leave their personal belongings (such as backpacks, books, folders, notebooks, etc.) in a secure locker, which is provided near the main entry.
  • Pencils and paper for taking notes are available at the Reference Desk.
  • All materials at Cushing are housed in closed stacks.  Many items are searchable through the TAMU Libraries online catalog.  Other materials can be found through various guides provided through this website, the Archon database, and staff at the Reference Desk.
  • Please ensure care is taken when viewing requested items.  Materials must not be marked or leaned on, folded, traced, or handled in any manner that will result in damage to them.
  • The order and arrangement of materials within all file folders are very important.  Please make certain that they are not inadvertently rearranged.
  • Patrons must return all borrowed materials 15 minutes before closing time.
